Cargotec strengthens its systems capabilities

Cargotec has announced that it is to acquire leading terminal operator systems (TOS) provider, Navis. The company describes the acquisition as an important step in strengthening its ability to provide total solutions for terminal customers.

Navis' flexible and scalable TOS software is the leading system used in marine terminals, rail yard operations, and distribution centres in over 50 countries. Navis systems help customers coordinate and automate the movement of containers and equipment and manage operations at different sites from a central location.

Founded in 1988 and headquartered in California, Navis has more than 300 employees today, most of whom are located in the US and India, and annual net sales of around USD 70 million.

Cargotec is a major name in enhancing the efficiency of logistics flows wherever cargo is on the move. Its Hiab, Kalmar, and MacGregor brands are recognised leaders in cargo- and load-handling solutions worldwide. Cargotec has net sales in the order of €2.6 billion (2009) and employs around 9,800 people.
