Prospecting for gold – from waste

Ecomation manufactures and supplies a wide range of crushers, conveyors, screens, dust extraction systems, and complete recycling lines. For customers with an existing facility, Ecomation can boost its operational and cost efficiency to bring it closer to the industry-leading standards of its own systems.

Ecomation’s scrap processing lines are among the most efficient and cost-effective on the market today when it comes to processing electrical and electronic scrap – such as circuit boards, cables, household appliances, computers, and telecommunications equipment – as well as construction waste and plastic.

The advanced nature of Ecomation’s lines, which are capable of processing anything from 250 to 5,000 kg/h or more, means that they can generate excellent revenue flows even from electrical and electronic scrap, which conventional scrap processing systems are usually not up to dealing with. Dedicated solutions can be supplied for CRT scrap (TVs and monitors) and batteries.

Clean, dry, and fully automated

The Ecomation separation process is dry, clean, and fully automated, and designed to keep dust and odour under very effective control. The fact that no effluent is generated makes the process ideal for electrical and electronic (WEEE) scrap. A typical system features three to five energyoptimised reduction stages, each followed by a separation cycle – all in a very compact footprint.

In-house manufacturing, combined with a comprehensive partner network, means that customers can be assured of the best possible crushing solution for their needs, including specialised requirements in areas such as crushing computer hard disks and PCBs. When modernising existing equipment, Ecomation can fit a system to monitor the condition of blades, bearings, and transmission components.

Ecomation’s basic ESSE separator consists of a multi-zone vibrating table, with ionization and blower stages. The ESSE XL also includes a drum screen and a feeding conveyor. ESSE units separate metals from organic materials such as plastics, light alloys such as aluminium from metals like copper, and glass and ceramic materials from metal-rich scrap streams. Magnetic separators for removing ferrous materials feature state-of-theart high-performance permanent magnets.

The end-product of a line can be further processed via smelting to ensure that gold and other precious metals are recovered and that the overall cost-effectiveness and environmental benefit of the process is as high as possible.

Although one of Ecomation’s container-based WEEE scrap processing units can handle ‘only’ up to a maximum of 1 t/h, further capacity can be added simply by hooking up more units in parallel.

A go-anywhere solution

Ecomation recently launched a container-based version of its complete line for processing WEEE scrap. Supplied in two or three sea containers, depending on customer needs, the unit can be easily moved from site to site, and is ready to run immediately. In areas without a grid power supply, it can be run off a generator, making it a truly go-anywhere solution.
